The Strokes - Going Shopping
After six years, the most iconic Rock band of the 2000s is back. April has been a busy month for the Strokes, with an exhilarating Coachella performance during weekend one and a world tour announcement that has fans jumping out of their seats. The New York City rockers have returned to the spotlight ahead of the rollout of their newest album. Going Shopping is the lead single for their next musical adventure, blending Julian Casablancas’ Voidz-fueled autotune obsession with classic slacker rock riffs, making for a warm, easy-going tune filled with funky guitar licks and pattering drum lines.
Jack White - G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs
The Strokes aren’t the only NY Garage Rock revivalists back with new material, as the legendary Jack White is back with two previously unreleased songs from the recording sessions for his 2024 critically acclaimed album, No Name. The White Stripes frontman has taken a classically Hard-Rock, Bluesy approach to his solo work, filling his new track, G.O.D. And The Broken Ribs, with hefty power chords, driving, straightforward drumming, jagged riffs, and Jack White’s powerful, all-intensive vocal performance.
This Is Lorelei, Momma - A Song That Sings To You - Momma Version
Nate Amos’s solo project, This Is Lorelei, and Momma are two bands that are a part of a newer age of New York City rockers, and they have been taking the Indie circuit by storm. Amos is one-half of the Noise Rock group Water From Your Eyes, but his solo work as This Is Lorelei is tender and emotionally driven, which made Momma one of the many bands covering his songs, perfect for the job. For their cover of A Song That Sings To You, Momma pulls back their layers, crafting a soft, dreamlike Indie Rock song that builds on itself with rising synths, flowing riffs, and soft-spoken verses.
Natanya - DON’T ASK!
Natanya is part of a blossoming wave of UK singers capturing the emotional flair of 90s R&B that is so essential to British music culture. The singer’s music has a knock and bounce to it that makes it incredibly catchy, and her newest single, DON’T ASK!, does all that and more. The saw-wave-driven tune is full of detail and smoothness, coming full circle when Natanya lays down her silky vocals. She creates beautiful, dramatic layers that perfectly capture the romance-tense verses.
Chris Stussy, Kučka - Fantasy
Chris Stussy is the stuff of modern UK House legend. His sense for melodies and rhythm makes him an icon in the scene, and his newest album, Lost, Found & Forgotten..., encapsulates Stussy’s smooth House charm like never before. On his track, Fantasy, with modern Electronic music vocalist Kučka, the duo team up to present a plucky and danceable groove that creates enough space with its lush pads and grooving hat patterns for Kučka’s forever-recognizable voice, rising through the song with an airy demeanor that embodies the Chris Stussy spirit like no other.
